This is no tall tail. Xbox is proud to support the APOPO RescueRATs program, an innovative initiative that trains African giant pouched rats to find people in collapsed buildings. Here’s how it works: Trained Rescue Rats equipped with a backpack search for the scent of survivors. The backpack is equipped with an RFID locator, miniature camera, mic, speaker, and LED light. Upon identification of a survivor, the rat is trained to pull a switch on its backpack, releasing the locator tag. In Xbox’s Wake Up, directed by David Fincher and Romain Chassaing, a wonderfully off-beat fairy tale unfolds: Horatio, a rat, rekindles his humanity through the joy of gaming. In real life, across the world, APOPO is making remarkable strides in lifesaving missions. Along with the search and rescue operations, APOPO has found success training the intrepid rodents to not only locate landmines, but also detect tuberculosis as part of an integrated approach. When deployed alongside standard methods, they can speed up the process to these critical situations.

How do you improve on a classic? This was the Call of Duty team’s challenge as they reintroduced the fan-favorite Verdansk map in Call of Duty: Warzone for the Season 03 release. Here’s what they did:   The team rebuilt the classic Verdansk map from the ground up, with a variety of visual adjustments and quality-of-life improvements.   This has resulted in the return of many classic features and "back to basics" gameplay elements that harken back to the very first iteration of the map, along with several key enhancements like upgraded visuals, revamped audio, and gameplay changes that maximize the best player experience—all without sacrificing what made Verdansk so special in the first place.   Congratulations to Activision’s studio teams at Beenox, Raven Software, Infinity Ward, and High Moon Studios that worked to bring this iconic map back.   Experience the iconic map for yourself in Season 03 of Call of Duty: Warzone— Available Now!! Welcome Home 🪂

Imagine stepping into a world where every detail—from the tiniest bottle to the fabric of a character's pants—is meticulously handcrafted. From the outset, the team at Compulsion Games knew they wanted to create a handcrafted, tactile art style for South of Midnight’s gameplay. So when it was time to create a cinematic introduction, the team decided to work with the award-winning Clyde Henry Productions and actually make a stop motion video. It was a painstaking process—the Clyde Henry team had to recreate game assets into actual handmade objects. They hired a glass blower in Korea to blow miniature bottles, and the exact “haint blue” color was a difficult shade to produce—as was shrinking the weave of a fabric for Hazel’s pants. Every frame is a tactile dance of texture, shadow, and storytelling, introducing players to Hazel’s otherworldly adventures. Watch it now below:
