What is the most efficient way to work with git on fabric?

I belong to a team of 7 members and we have an F64 capacity. We have to build a data platform and we have to ingest data from almost 50 sources we are looking to use data pipelines, dataflows, and spark notebooks. We have connected Fabric with azure devops and looks like everyone in the project is going to be working on each task. As far as I have seen it looks like everyone needs to create a workspace for themselves and work on their tasks. But is this the most efficient way? And if it is, can an F64 capacity handle 7 people working at the same time?

A workspace is a focus area for a group of business audiences. If your developers all work for different audiences then they will operate in different workspaces. If they work for the same audiences then the will operate in the same workspace.

Just to clarify, when you say they work on their tasks are they all working on features?

If so, then working with their own feature branches can be an optimal way to work as it means that they can spot errors at an early stage instead of deploying them to production. Plus, you can implement continuous integration tests.

However, there are various factors to consider. Like the fact that they need the relevant permissions to create their own workspaces and new branches in the Git repository behind the scenes.

Feel free to ask any follow-up questions and will do my best to help.

Hi @sreedharshan_10,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community forum.

Thank you @lbendlin for your response. Your answer is accurate and confirms that it can handle more than seven people working simultaneously.

Creating a separate workspace for each user is not the most efficient approach. Instead, I recommend setting up a shared development workspace where all team members collaborate.

If this post helps, then please consider Accept it as the solution to help the other members find it more quickly.

I understand your approach. But if the capacitor can handle all of the team working simultaneously, this approach should work right? - assign each member a workspace and let them use it to create git branches based on the latest main branch and push new changes as they make them. That will result in almost 10 workspaces but wouldn't that be a good way to track commits and pushes?

Hi @sreedharshan_10,

Here is the workaround which might work for you:

Enable Git integration in Fabric, allowing each user to create and work on their own branches within the shared workspace.

Enforce branch policies in Azure DevOps to track changes, enforce reviews, and prevent conflicts before merging into the main branch.

It can handle way more than that.  Hundreds of people.
