As has been partly implemented with Filters, it would be very useful to have slicers that could apply to all pages of a report. This would allow users to interact more easily.
The most exciting news so far this year! In the February release of Power BI Desktop we've shipped the ability to synchronize slicers on different pages in your report! You can read more about how the feature works here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-february-2018-feature-summary/#syncSlicers Thanks again for everyone's feedback and votes on this feature. We do listen to you so keep voting and let us know what other things you need us to prioritize.
I do not believe that this is completed. The look and feel of slicers on a page is much nicer and more user friendly than using the filters. Excel has the ability to apply slicers to selected Power Pivot charts on multiple pages. We would like that functionality here.
I updated the status since users are asking for slicers which will apply across all pages and not just report level filters. From Bryan Campbell - REPOST: LISTED AS COMPLETED, BUT SOLUTION WAS INCOMPLETE. NEED FOR A SLICER ON SHEET ONE TO SERVE ALL SHEETS WITHIN A REPORT SIMILAR TO EXCEL SLICER WORKING ON MULTI WORKSHEETS.
This is required because it allows for better data analysis. For example, on page one I might have location based information. I might apply some filters and that will narrow down my report to certain locations. Page 2 might have product specific information. I may further narrow down the product categories based on what I chose in location on page 1. This sort of linking is important because otherwise I need to repeat slicers on each page which becomes repetitive.
I agree, I don't think we can say because filters are available that this is complete. The slicers are more user friendly and work more like standard functionality in other BI presentation tools.
To design reports for small form factor devices (phone) slicers are hard to use. I envision a multipage report where the first couple of pages simply have a report level slicers that help narrow down your field of interest before you get to the pages of data
'+1 for me .. i would also like to link slicers on each page. a change on slicers on page 1 (background, titel etc) should have an effect on each slicer on each page. But only for linked objects
