Project to be claimed

Sparkle: https://pypi.org/project/SparkleAI/

Your PyPI username

thijs674: https://pypi.org/user/thijs674/

Reasons for the request

The PyPi project that I wish to claim is Sparkle, as it shares the name with my current project: https://pypi.org/project/sparkle/

I believe this project to be abandoned as it has had no release in almost 10 years, and the last commit to their corresponding GitHub repository was 8 years ago: https://github.com/portfors-lab/sparkle

I cannot find any name claims to this project to be open at the time.

The reason that I wish to continue with their tag, instead of SparkleAI, is because I have been getting complaints from my users that installing the package is confusing as they mistakenly keep installing this one.

The download statistics of the package seem to indicate its only being downloaded by bots / scrapers (/ my users making mistakes)

Maintenance or replacement?

Replacement

Source code repositories URLs

Current project: https://github.com/portfors-lab/sparkle
My project I intend to publish in its place: https://github.com/ADA-research/Sparkle

Contact and additional research

I attempted to contact the authors per email to discuss this situation, however all contact information seems to be impossible as the email accounts are deactivated:

Hi @thijssnelleman,

We are working to contact the owner to determine if they're reachable and have sent them a courtesy message.

Final determination regarding project ownership will be made by the PyPI Administrators when the research process is complete.

The owner of the project has gotten back to us and they are okay with giving up the project.

I recommend that the PyPI Admins assign sparkle to @thijssnelleman.
