Reasons for the request

I believe this project to be abandoned because the team internal to the owning entity, and it's work, has been dissolved. I've checked with contacts at the company and nobody knows who owns the project. The project has not received any updates since the middle of 2022.

Contact and additional research

I've reached out to various contacts within the organization to find out who the current owner of the project is and none can be determined. The previous maintainers of the project, including myself, have all left the company since 2022, and the team which took the project over was dissolved as part of an acquisition in 2024 where the remaining employees who would have know anything about the project were laid off.

Final determination regarding project ownership will be made by the PyPI Administrators when the research process is complete.

The Owner was unreachable and did not get back to us regarding the status of their project despite multiple attempts. Therefore, we consider the project abandoned per PEP 541. I recommend that the PyPI Admins assign @kvondersaar as the new owner of conf-engine.
