IDE: remove trailing spaces

Can you make an option to remove trailing spaces in editor, sometimes it's very annoying.

I second this.
github gui shows all the trailing spaces in RED, so yes it is annoying.

You can actually do it (sort of) by using the new "Auto Format" that was improved in 1.5.5 using Artistic Style: http://astyle.sourceforge.net/. It removes all trailing spaces as well.

Maybe it would be possible to use that to only remove trailing spaces?

AStyle is the way to go. You can have your own formatter.conf file: put it in the same folder as preferences.txt and restart the ide

I'm not sure why this is closed. Why do some settings need a third-party program while others don't? This is an important setting to have built-in...
